Privacy Policy — TetherDrive

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect the following information:

Email address — used for account authentication and password recovery.
Username — displayed on leaderboards and to friends.
Password — stored securely using bcrypt hashing. We never store your password in plain text.

During gameplay, we collect:

Game progress — high scores, coins earned, cars caught, upgrades purchased, and other gameplay statistics.
Leaderboard scores — your weekly and all-time best scores for ranking purposes.
Friend connections — friend requests and accepted friendships to power the social leaderboard.

In-App Purchases

TetherDrive offers optional in-app purchases (power-ups, lives) processed through Google Play or the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information — all transactions are handled by the respective platform.

Purchase receipts are validated through RevenueCat, our payment processing partner. RevenueCat may store anonymized transaction data as described in their privacy policy.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data exclusively to:

Authenticate your account and sync game progress across devices.
Display leaderboards and friend rankings.
Process backer reward code redemptions.
Improve gameplay balance and fix bugs.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by our infrastructure provider. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.

Guest players who do not create an account have their data stored locally on their device only — no data is sent to our servers.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently and immediately removed from our servers. There is no retention period after deletion.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data — your game progress is visible in the app at all times.
Delete your data — you can delete your account and all associated data from within the app (Settings > Delete Account). See our account deletion page for details.
Play without an account — you can use TetherDrive as a guest without providing any personal information.

Children's Privacy

TetherDrive is designed for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
